Moving large, heavy loads is crucial to today's manufacturing and construction industries. Much technology has been developed for these operations, including careful training and extensive workplace precautions. There are significant safety issues to be considered, both for the operators of the diverse "lifting" devices, and for workers in proximity to them. This presentation is a will cover OSHA's inspection and operation requirements as well as some case studies.
Tim Kipp is a Senior Consultant with GZA GeoEnviromental, Inc. Tim is a fellow CHMM and also a CSP. He has over 25 years of environmental and safety consulting experience. Prior to joining GZA, Tim was the corporate Environmental Health & Safety Manager for Sprague Energy, the largest petroleum and bulk materials handling company in the northeastern United States.
