The following DOT Certification classes (Land/Rail, Air and Water) will be conducted by Sam Burton of GSI at Reichhold, Inc (400 Doremus Ave, Newark, NJ 07105) from Oct 17 to Oct 22 from 8 am to 4 pm each day.
Additional spots are available to members of ASSE, CHMM and NJCIC at a cost of $500 per person for the week. This fee includes lunch.

Training Certification Course
Three days (23 instructional hours)- Training certification course including instruction in basic U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations contained in 49 CFR pertaining to the transportation of less than bulk packaged shipments of NON-RADIOACTIVE hazardous materials and substances via highway. This will include, but is not limited to, instruction in regulatory structure and organization; references and sources of information; a hazardous material shipping procedure; the Hazardous Material Table; hazardous substance definitions and determinations; identification; classification; packaging; marking; labeling; shipping papers; placarding requirements; and the provision of Emergency Response information as applicable to shipments of hazardous materials and substances by highway under 49 CFR. The primary thrust of this course is the highway transportation of hazardous materials under 49 CFR and air coverage is incidental.

IATA/ICAO/ FAA Air Transportation of Dangerous Goods
Recurrent Training Recertification Course
One day (7 instructional hours)- An intensive and concentrated training recertification course designed to meet or exceed the recurrent training requirements of the U.S. DOT as contained in 49 CFR, ICAO and IATA for the areas covered. This is accomplished by providing a review of all the areas covered in the GSI-02 Air Course and a regulatory update as to the recent regulatory changes impacting on the areas covered by that course. It is recommended for the successful completion of this course that all attendees have previous training in these regulations. This course is different from GSI-15 in that material is taught at a quicker pace due to the experience of those attending.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods Via Water (IMDG)
Training Certification Course
One day (7 instructional hours)- Training certification course including instruction in the relationship between 49 CFR and the IMDG Code for water transportation of dangerous goods; identification of dangerous goods, including classification procedures; use of the general index and schedule pages; proper shipping name determination; technical name rule; UN number and packing group; UN performance packaging, including terminology, selection and testing; marking and labeling; IMO dangerous goods declaration; container certification; hazardous substances; marine pollutants; placarding; segregation requirements; and highway and rail requirements for water shipments during surface transportation. The instruction will focus on the requirements for non-bulk packages in containers. Bulk and intermediate bulk containers will not be discussed in as much detail.
